New Sony PSP Extended Life Battery Kit

Wed, 09 Jan 2008 10:23:11 +0000

A lot of people have complained about the short battery life of the Sony PlayStation Portable game console. The hard truth of the matter is that they are right as we are dealing with a device that is disc based and comes with a large LCD screen. The lithium ion battery that is included in the PSP has a bad habit of getting discharged when the games tend to get more enjoyable (that is when the session starts to last longer than expected). For all of you PSP fans out there, we have some good news. Where the slimmer and lighter PSP failed (battery life of course), Sony came up with a solution.

According to the company, there is something you can purchase that will get rid of the battery problem you might be having. We are talking about the new PSP Extended Life Battery Kit. It will start shipping in the middle of December and will come with a 2200 mAh battery pack. It is stated that it can double the battery life that appears in the PSP-2000 model available on the market. The even better news is that the Battery Kit will also work with the original PSP-1000 model, although you will not notice much battery life obtained in this case.

The bad news is that the new extended battery is thicker than the one you are using at the moment so Sony also put in special silver and black replacement covers that will get rid of the increase in size you will visibly notice with the PSP-2000. If you want to get your hand on one you will need to pay $44.99 and start playing more than you did before but still less than you would want to. On the other hand, every minute counts when you are trying to reach a save point that you simply can not get to.

Halo 3 – A Huge Success for Microsoft

Sun, 07 Oct 2007 08:53:36 +0000

According to Microsoft, their Halo 3 video game gathered sales of around $300 million in the first week of its existence. This actually makes it one of the best sold video games of the year and also is said to have boosted Xbox 360 sales quite a lot.

Halo 3 is a very important element in Microsoft’s gaming department. This is because the competition is higher than ever. Xbox 360 does not only have to fight the previous favorite, PlayStation, they now have to deal with the highly popular Nintendo Wii as well. According to an official statement by Microsoft, the first reports issued by retailers from around the world showed that Xbox sales have almost tripled since the launch of Halo 3. Official stats are not yet made public but we do know that the month of August brought in 277,000 unit sales in USA and 11,000 in Japan. If it is true that sales went three times the previous amounts you can do the math yourself.

Halo 3 seems to be a very interesting game that lets people battle each other or join forces, kind of like World of Warcraft although the differences are obvious. This game is so popular that it seems has also made it possible for Microsoft to record a record number of people signing up for the paid Xbox Live online service. The three Halo games sold over 20 million copies around the world and Halo 3 is just beginning selling.

It will be interesting to see how this will affect the video game console war that is currently quite interesting. It will more likely hit the Sony PlayStation 3 even more as the Nintendo Wii provides quite a different gaming experience than both Sony’s machine and Microsoft’s. Sony is currently struggling hard and the news linked with Halo 3 will only hit it even more.
