geeks can be girly too, y’know.

There’s a certain bittersweetness regarding Friend reunions. Of course, who doesn’t want to see their friends again after months or even years, sometimes even without contact. To check up on how they are and for them to do the same. Then under the cheerful hellos and ‘i missed you’ hugs, jokes and greetings you’ll see how they are really doing.

Some are happily gaining weight and doesn’t care cause she’s already with the love of her life anyway. Some are coping after a previous relationship we all thought would go on forever. Some are dealing with the awkwardness of having to act nonchalant in front of their exes then when they finally had a discussion it became a sparring match. Some can still get drunk after two measly glasses of alcohol. And some are being poked at for still being single for almost four years.

Yep, reunion’s are fun but it can also be funny and dreadful in a way. But there’s always this special feeling of after not seeing them for so long, it’s like we all just saw each other yesterday. I have a lot of social friends but I only have a few that I consider my genuine ones. So that leaves me to conclude that friendship isn’t measured on how close you can be when you’re together but on how much you’d been apart yet still, that special bond remains. There’s no need for constant communication cause we know we only just have to holler for them to come running when we need them.

Different time, location and hairstyles but the same old friendship. As I’ve said before in my previous entry, change is always there. It’s inevitable and uncontrollable. But there’s just some things that will never change.

Like one of our favorite songs.

coin operated boy

coin operated boy

sitting on the shelf he is just a toy

but i turn him on and he comes to life

automatic joy

that is why i want a coin operated boy

made of plastic and elastic

he is rugged and long-lasting

who could ever ever ask for more

love without complications galore

many shapes and weights to choose from

i will never leave my bedroom

i will never cry at night again

wrap my arms around him and pretend….

coin operated boy

all the other real ones that i destroy

cannot hold a candle to my new boy and i’ll

never let him go and i’ll never be alone

not with my coin operated boy……

this bridge was written to make you feel smittener

with my sad picture of girl getting bitterer

can you extract me from my plastic fantasy

i didnt think so but im still convinceable

will you persist even after i bet you

a billion dollars that i’ll never love you

will you persist even after i kiss you

goodbye for the last time

will you keep on trying to prove it?

i’m dying to lose it…

i want it

i want you

i want a coin operated boy.

and if i had a star to wish on

for my life i cant imagine

any flesh and blood could be his match

i can even take him in the bath

coin operated boy

he may not be real experienced with girls

but i know he feels like a boy should feel

isnt that the point that is why i want a

coin operated boy

with his pretty coin operated voice

saying that he loves me that hes thinking of me

straight and to the point

that is why i want

a coin operated boy.

Now who wants one?

I agree, friends don’t necessarily have to see each other that often.

It amazes me how we can find friends during such reunions even with the constant changing of phone numbers and addresses, it just goes to show how well real friends know each other

I want a coin operated girl! Wala ba yan male version? He he ;P

First off, I love that song!

Secondly, while I haven’t had any ‘friends reunion’, I have often thought about how it would be for my high school reunion. I think it would be VERY interesting.

I only count a few in this world as my “true friends”. It’s not the quantity I value, it’s the quality.

These days, we don’t see each other that often… because of our busy lives. But I know they’ll pop up in person, if I asked them to come… if I needed their help.

I only have a handful of true friends whom I get in touch with even if they are miles away. But I also wanted to experience reunions and stuff like that.

I recently got in contact with a few people I was friends with years ago.

One is still single but continuing her education, one is pretty much the same lol, another is doing a lot of good things (volunteering and all that).. it’s nice to see and talk to them again, no matter what they’re doing now.

Wow, I feel the same way as you. I’ve never had a reunion but when meeting up with some old friends after a long period of time, we are still able to talk and laugh just like we had never parted before. That’s when I know they’d always be there for me. Some are just hi-bye friends, you can never count on those… Guess that’s life!

I haven’t been to a reunion yet, I can’t wait for my high school reunion though, It’ll be interesting to see how people have been for the past few years and what they are doing now

I have a lot of old friends that I hardly keep in contact with anymore, but when I run into them, it’s like we hang out every day. I always like those friends cus they don’t deal with the usual day-to-day drama.
