A friend of ours tagged me with a meme and, rather than responding via email I figured I’d make a blog entry out of it. Just call me productive lazy.

Do you like blue cheese?

Yes, it’s my favorite salad dressing

Have you ever smoked?

No, never. I am allergic to cigarette smoke. But I have inhaled (second-hand), repeatedly. I grew up in a smoking household.

Do you own a gun?

No. And the only weapons I’ve ever shot are a BB gun and a bow & arrow. I used to be deadly with water balloons, however!

What flavor Kool-aid was your favorite?

I haven’t had Kool-aid since I was a kiddo. I probably preferred cherry or strawberry since those are my favorite Jello flavors as an adult.

Do you get nervous before doctor appointments?

All the time. Doesn’t even matter how much I trust and like the doctor, either. I especially hate going to the dentist.

What do you think of hot dogs?

I am definitely a pro-hot dog kinda gal, but I’m not into designer dogs. Just give me a plain ol’ hot dog bun (or bread, in a pinch), some ketchup and I’m set. Unless you’re Sonic, in which case I will occasionally indulge and get a chili cheese dog (and regret the calories later.)

Favorite Christmas movie?

A Christmas Story. You’re gonna shoot your eye out, Ralphie!

What do you prefer to drink in the morning?

Dr Pepper, but I quit it cold turkey last Thursday and endured the awful caffeine withdrawal headaches for a couple days. I’m not a big coffee drinker, though when I worked within walking distance of a Starbucks I was a slave to their caramel frappuccino. Since quitting DP, I’ve not found a good first-thing-in-the-morning drink. I had a low calorie strawberry milk this morning, for example.

Can you do push ups?

Yes, but they aren’t pretty. I’m still trying to find and recapture my pre-baby body, which is disconcerting to document publicly given the “baby” is 18 months old on September 15th!

What’s your favorite piece of jewelry?

I have to cheat and steal my friend AMC’s answer — wedding ring. I rarely wear any other jewelry, not even earrings these days (just one more thing to lose in the frenzy of toddler chasing and entertaining.)

Favorite hobby?

I don’t just have one: hiking and camping (any season except summer, which in Texas means anytime except May, June, July, August, September); mountain biking and road cycling; gardening (that which I don’t kill makes the garden stronger!); listening to music.

Do you have A.D.D?

No, if anything I have too much ability to focus on one thing at the exclusion of everything else. Ask me how well that works with a toddler. Uh huh. You got it! I wish I could make my brain jump the track it gets stuck on at times!

What’s one trait you hate about yourself?

I’m stealing from AMC again, whose answer was: “worrying too much (Amen, sista!)”

Middle Name?

Name 3 thoughts at this exact moment.

I hate allergies; it’s a beautiful day and I’ll be damned if my allergies keep me & kidlet indoors (nevermind she has 500 mosquito bites…sigh); don’t forget to drop off clothes for donation and recyclables ‘cuz I don’t want to keep hauling that stuff in my vehicle.

Name 3 drinks you regularly drink.

You’re killing me here. I just quit Dr Pepper, which I’ve consumed probably daily since, oh, freshman year in high school?

Ok, so without Dr Pepper… (trying not to fall off wagon here!) I’m drinking WATER, Arizona Green Tea and/or unsweetened iced tea daily. I wish I liked wine.

Current Worry?

How to get all the things done around/to our house that are long overdue or very important. Replacing carpeted bathrooms(!ick!) with tile; re-sodding or seeding our backyard lawn which DIED; etc. etc. etc.

Current hate right now?

Our lowlife neighbors who think it’s their God-given right to abuse their dogs and smoke pot which vents into my garage and house (not looking forward to “open window weather,” sadly, as a result.) Also worried what their kids will do being raised in that household.

Favorite place to be?

#1 Home; #2 camping in our tent in some picturesque, relaxing locale.

How did you bring in the New Year?

My memory’s already shot… I can’t remember! I may have spent it with my parents and brother at the ancestral homestead, while Justin and kidlet stayed home. Or all three of us may have stayed home.

Where would you like to go?

Ireland; Scotland; Australia; Hawaii; England; all of the U.S. National Parks (but not at peak season–how’s that for being flexible? hehe); sense a theme here? I haven’t traveled that much, and never abroad.

Name three people who will complete this?

I’m answering via my blog, but I have a feeling ,

and maybe

will respond if I forward the email.

Do you own slippers?

No, I’m normally barefoot or in socks at home.

What color shirt are you wearing right now?

Do you like sleeping on satin sheets?

No. Besides, I have cats!

Can you whistle?

Yes, although I can’t do a loud whistle to stop traffic or cheer at a ball game. I’m just a tweeter…

27. Favorite color?

Blue of (almost) any hue

Would you be a pirate?

Does being a music pirate (Napster, etc.) count? I love Johnny Depp as Jack Sparrow, but I think I’d rather follow him off to .

What songs do you sing in the shower?

Sing? I scarcely have time to turn on the water and lather the soap and shampoo! All I hear outside the shower door is “MAAAAA-MAAAAA! MAMA! MAMA! MAMA! MAMAAAAAAAA!”

Favorite Girl’s name?

How could a new mom *not* answer with her daughter’s name? Sara, middle name Elise.

Favorite boys name?

No favorite, though we had quite a list going before we knew we were having a daughter.

Last thing that made you laugh?

Making faces with the kidlet and laughing at the funny sounds she’s experimenting with (yes, she knows how to make fake fart sounds now. That’s an important milestone, right? Right!? {grin}

Best bed sheets as a child?

I think I had Carebears or clouds & rainbows at some point, but it wasn’t the sheets I loved it was the bed — 4-poster bed with a canopy. The canopy quickly lost its appeal, however, when one of our cats started sleeping on top of it, only to come crashing down on me as I slept.

Worst injury you’ve ever had?

Severed my ACL (anterior cruciate ligament) and shredded some cartilage (medial meniscus) in my left knee in late 2004/early 2005. Had knee surgery in early

to repair the damage. Several months of physical therapy and ever since I’ve had a strong, stable, expensive left knee.

Do you love where you live?

No, that wouldn’t be how I’d describe it. The only thing I do love about it is living close to both my parents and Justin’s parents, as well as his sister and her family. And even though we’re not close to where Justin works, he’s able to

two or three times a week, so that’s a plus.

How many TVs do you have in your house?

One. However, if you count devices which can play videos/DVDs it’s more like FIFTEEN. We don’t watch much TV, but we have multiple laptops, desktop computers, PDAs or portable media devices (iPod touch), Blackberry phones, etc. We watch DVDs, iTunes and Netflix online movie rentals, and free movies from various networks online.

Who is your loudest friend?

AMC, we love you!

How many dogs do you have?

No dogs. Yard’s not big enough, and we have enough problems with the poor dogs next door.

Does someone have a crush on you?

Highly unlikely.

What is your favorite book?

One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fi… OH! Sorry. Well, I have an Amazon Kindle (which I love) but which also means I’m reading bits of a bunch of books at any one time. I have no one favorite book, really.

What is your favorite candy?

It’s a toss-up between Jelly Belly jellybeans or Red Hots, neither of which I have very often.

Favorite sports team?

If I’d had time, I would have followed Team Garmin/Chipotle more closely during this year’s Tour de France (Full Disclosure: we’re Garmin stockholders and huge fans of their technology.)

I of course was glued to Team USA in swimming during the Beijing Olympics.

What songs do you want played at your funeral?

For levity:

by Jack Blanchard & Misty Morgan. For my surviving family, as my last recognition of their love and support in my life:

written and performed by Secret Garden

That said, I don’t plan on having a funeral. Scatter my ashes somewhere I’d have loved to visit in life (Rocky Mountains, etc.) and be done with it, just like Dad Grand (our family’s name for my grandfather on my dad’s side) and Grandma Juanita.

What is your favorite place to shop?, baby! Even moreso now that I’m a busy mom. Gotta love free shipping (via Amazon Prime membership) and no sales tax on most purchases!

Awwww, I love these surveys–even though they’re corny, blah blah blah, I find them fun to read…and so informative!

Who is this AMC you refer to???

My dad didn’t have a funeral–didn’t want one, just his ashes spread in his favorite location.

I love what you wrote about that, made me smile!
